Australian selectors may not include a player in the lineup for the Ashes’ last fifth test against England in Hobart. However, Mitchell Starc has already played the previous Tests and is the only quick who has played in all 4 matches.

The options of pace attack for the Aussies are rich thanks to the impressive performances of Jhye Richardson, Michael Neser and Scott Boland playing as replacements in the summer.

Josh Hazlewood should be back on the team shortly after recovering from an injury sustained in Tasmania. Thus, Starc is likely to heal a wound received during a tight series instead of joining the Aussie team.

However, Stark does not want to take a break and admits that the final decision is beyond his control: “It’s purely up to the selectors. I’m not looking for a break. It’s the last Test match of an Ashes series at home. It’s a pink ball too…Hopefully, it’s not my turn to rest. I’d very much like to play. I guess it’s in the hands of selectors. But I won’t be asking for a rest.”

It would be reckless for national team management to ignore the world’s all-time leading wicket-taker in day-night Tests. “It would have been really nice to take that final wicket, but ultimately it was a fantastic game of cricket,” said Mitchell Starc.
